The Icelandic Film School begins collaborating with Julliard

Julliard contacted The Film School looking for student collaboration in regards to film soundtrack

The Icelandic Film School recently began collaborating with the prestigious American Academy of Art Julliard in New York. The school is generally considered one of the best in the world in the field of acting and music education, but actors like Robin Williams, Jessica Chastain, Adam Driver, Laura Linney and music legends like Miles Davis, Nina Simone, Chick Corea and more have graduated from the school. .In the nearly 120 years that the school has been operating, it has established itself as one of the most important in the American film, theater and music world.

The collaboration takes place in such a way that the Icelandic Film School will annually invite graduates to send films to the Julliard Composers' Department, which will connect its students with a director from the Film School. In the coming years, the graduates of the Icelandic Film School will collaborate with the most promising composers at the Julliard School in New York.

Friðrik Þór Friðriksson, rector of the Icelandic Film School, says that it is extremely gratifying that a prestigious school like Julliard has contacted the Film School for collaboration and that this is a confirmation of the quality of the study at the school and he looks forward to seeing the results of the collaboration.

The Icelandic Film School celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Most of the country's best-known filmmakers have either taught or studied at the school. In 2012, the school was incorporated into Cilect, an international association of film schools.
