The Film School at RIFF

Reykjavík International Film Festival, or RIFF, began on Thursday October 26th and among participants are both former and current pupils, along with our Head of Studies.

Erlendur Sveinsson, a graduate from Directing and Producing had the opening shortfilm "Birnir and Bríet'' that was made in connection with a new r4ecord that Bríet has published, "1000 words" and falls under the category of music films.

In the "Icelandic Panorama" category we have the film "Aftergames" by Ólafur Árheim, but he is a graduate of Screenwriting and Directing, and starring there are Andri Freyr Sigurpálsson and Vivian Ólafsdóttir, both graduates from Acting.

In the short film competition Katla Sólnes, a graduate from Directing and Producing, is participating with her film "Whim Rules the Child, and Weather the Field".

In the student film competition we have Magdalena Ólafsdóttir with her film "A Princess' Tale" and Michelle Pröstler with "After the rain", they are both studying Screenwriting and Directing.

In the Golden Egg competition we have Grétar Jónsson from Directing and Producing with his film "frá Leikstjórn og Framleiðslu með mynd sína "Flowers".

Bergur Árnason from Screenwriting and Directing is a judge in the category Icelandic short films.

Vala Ómarsdóttir from Screenwtriting and Directing has a RIFF Talk about her working methods and introduces her first full length film in Work in Progress.

Other graduates that are a part of RIFF Talks are Arnar Benjamín Kristjánsson from Directing and Producing, Anní Ólafsdóttir from Screenwriting and Directing and Jón Már Gunnarsson from Creative Technology.

And lastly we are happy to announce that Hrafnkell Stefánsson, the Head of Studies at The Film School, is both a judge and is holding a lecture at Talent Lab, where he will be talking about the use of artificial intelligence in screenwriting.
