Rakel Jóna Ásbjörnsdóttir - Acting
Rakel Jóna will be graduating from Acting with her film "When is it enough?"
When is it enough?
Sexual assault is a big problem in modern society and its consequences can be different. Dimma was digitally sexually assaulted as a teenager, and that experience has followed her into her adult years, and we see how the consequences have affected her throughout her life. The film is based on true events and its point of view is based on a monologue.
What is the first movie experience you remember?
I don't really have a single memory, but I remember getting really into all the movies, I watched Narnia, and every time I walked through a forest or it snowed, I was absolutely sure that now I had arrived in Narnia and was just about to meet the characters. I remember sword fighting with trees and playing with my siblings that we were stuck on a desert island after watching "Pirates of the Caribbean ''. My imagination always went wild after every movie I watched.
What fascinates you about filmmaking?
Actually it relates to my first answer, filmmaking allows me to open up completely into my imagination and make anything happen, make all the weird dreams come true.
Why did you choose your department?
Acting became my choice because I knew I would find myself there. Acting has always been a part of my life, putting on plays for mum and dad, singing and dancing. I also get to use all my life experiences for something fun and get to be and do everything I've ever dreamed of doing, even if it's all pretend.
Did anything particularly surprise you in your studies?
No, not really. Maybe I got to learn more about the technical side of filmmaking than I expected, but it was just fun.
And what does the future look like?
You never know what the future holds for you, but I want to go make my own movies, hopefully with a fun team behind me and just fool around, enjoy life.
