Pálmi Sigurðsson - Creative Technology
Pálmi will be graduating from Creative Technology with his film "The Non-friction Philosophy"
The Non-friction Philosophy
The film is about an American family that throws a dinner party in Iceland, but the party ends when the mother curses in front of her children, but the people at the party are not all nice.
The film is a farce that draws its inspiration from the series "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia".
What is the first movie experience you remember?
The first movie I remember watching was Mulan on tape on a small tube TV. I must have watched it about 100 times over the years. That movie opened my eyes to different cultures in the world and I can still sing the songs from the movie today.
What fascinates you about filmmaking?
At this moment, audio post-processing has grabbed me and will not let go. I really enjoy piecing together the sound world and making sure that everything fits perfectly to the film. In the past, filmmaking was a good and creative reason to have fun with friends.
Why did you choose your department?
I always liked being behind the camera and was interested in editing films. So Creative Technology was an obvious choice for me.
Did anything particularly surprise you in your studies?
Definitely the fact that I switched to audio post-processing after I tried it. I've now found my place in the film world and I'm not going to deviate from it, at least in the near future.
And what does the future look like?
The future is rather open, but otherwise the current plans are to get a license to use ProTools and get more experience here in Iceland. Among the things I want to do is also sound editing a video game. However, the long-term dream is to travel around the world and hopefully work from home along the way.
