Guðni Grétar Einarsson - Acting

Guðni Grétar will be graduating from Acting with his film "Lights out"

Lights out

Magnús lives alone in his underground bunker after the apocalypse, and he has been there for four years when we first meet him. He has not made any contact with the outside world before this time and thus considers himself to be the only one left alive, until it turns out otherwise.

What is the first movie experience you remember?

I remember the most when my brother took me to see “Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone” at the movies when I was five. The film was dubbed to Icelandic in the cinema and I have been a Potterhead since then.

What fascinates you about filmmaking?

Everything about filmmaking fascinates me. Acting in movies, filming, successful frames and shots, beautiful lighting, sound and how the camera crew usually becomes one family when you are shooting a movie.

Why did you choose your department?

I chose Acting because I have always enjoyed acting, changing myself into other characters and trying to do it to the best of my ability. I also love the attention that comes with it all.

Did anything particularly surprise you in your studies?

I was surprised how quickly I was becoming comfortable in front of the camera and on stage after only being in this program for one semester. It took away most of my ego and I started to be able to play better because I was not as self aware as I had been before I started.

And what does the future look like?

The future is hopefully bright, I'm going to be incredibly pushy with all the directors by letting me act in their film and be diligent in reminding them of me. And even if it won't be acting, just something on a film set because that's the most fun thing I do.
