Valerie Ósk will be graduating from Acting on June 4th with her film “Vera”
The film is about a young woman who suddenly loses her mother and now she has no choice but to face the difficulties of communicating with her stepfather
What is your first memory related to films?
Since I was a little kid I have loved to watch Jackie Chan movies. I fell in love with his friendly and cheerful approach. It’s continuing and now that I am a grownup - if I am in a bad mood I just put his film on and I feel better right away !
And then in my childhood with Jackie it happened - I wanted to become a part of the cinematography world - telling the stories and bringing emotions to the people
What fascinates you about film making?
Everything ! From the first steps of production to the editing and finally watching the film on the big screen! I love acting, but during the time at The Icelandic Film school I found my passion also in Directing and Producing
Why did you choose Acting?
When I was a kid I dreamed of becoming an actress and acting in movies. I've always watched movies since childhood. And I remember when my mother and sister sat on opposite sides of the room at that moment when I was watching the movie and I was so involved that I didn’t even hear what they were talking about and I just asked them to be quieter. But they were continuing to tease me, in a good way, of course. Then I just turned the sound up louder. It is still like that - when I watch a good film I am completely immersed in it
Anything that surprised you?
I love how I opened up and improved during studies at school
And what does the future look like?
Well now it's time to Get the ball rolling!
