Graduation Spring 2022 - Bergrún Huld Arnarsdóttir, Directing and Producing

Bergrún Huld will be graduating on June 4th from Directing and Producing with her film “Shattered”

A woman loses her son and has difficulty getting back on her feet. Instead of accepting that she is having a hard time, she passes her problems on to her daughter, which forms a difficult relationship between them

What is your first memory related to films?

The first and truly most memorable movie experience, apart from cartoons, is when I went to see "Mamma mia" at the theater when I was 9 years old. I remember feeling like in a dream and feeling like I could forget myself in a world I longed to be a part of. I still feel the same now 14 years later when I watch "Mamma mia"

What fascinates you about film making?

What fascinates me most about filmmaking is being able to create a world that people can reflect themselves in and get to see situations from a different perspective. Also the freedom you have to convey important messages and vent your feelings

Why did you choose Directing and Producing?

Ever since I was little I have felt like a leader and I really enjoy having an overview of things. So I immediately knew that the Producing would be very fitting, which turned out to be very true. I also knew right away that I wanted to be able to guide others and tell stories that I had in mind and therefore chose the Directing with it

Anything that surprised you?

Wow so much! Especially what an incredible amount of work behind one movie. I never really realized it until I started working on it myself. Also how important it is to believe in yourself and allow yourself to stand by yourself and your idea. It also surprised me how difficult it is to talk aloud about ideas you've had in your stomach for a long time. The ideas are always like your child you want to take good care of and protect

And what does the future look like?

I really want to let the future surprise me, but I have some ideas in my head that will hopefully one day come true. First, though, I want to try to get onto a movie set and gain experience and get to know the people out there
