Egill Andri Reynisson - Directing and Producing

Egill Andri will be graduating from Directing and Producing with his film "Gone"

Gone

The film is about Brynja, a woman who is looking for her 7-year-old daughter after she doesn't come home from school on time. She suspects that she has been taken when things worsen... But all is not what it seems.

What is the first movie experience you remember?

I don't think there is one clear answer to this question for me. One movie I remember watching when I was younger at my grandparents' house was 'The Ugly Little Caterpillar' from 2002. It was burned into my brain because I thought the spider was so scary. Otherwise, I know for sure that the first cinema trip I remember was to see 'Avatar', purely because I had never seen anything like it.

What fascinates you about filmmaking?

There are many things that fascinate me about filmmaking, but there are some that stand out. It combines technology that I am very interested in and artistic creation that tickles the imagination. Furthermore, cooperation is key, but over the years I have learned to love teamwork. Last but not least, I would say that it is the art form that most easily evokes emotions in me, which I find extremely beautiful as an emotional being.

Why did you choose your department?

I always knew I wanted to go into directing, so the only question was whether I wanted to focus on production or screenwriting. Production was chosen because the course sounded more diverse and practical. I am a very organized person and I have long been interested in the film production process.

Did anything particularly surprise you in your studies?

Before I came to school, I was afraid that I would feel ignorant among my fellow students who would be some super geeks, but that was not the case. The students' knowledge was as diverse as their fields of expertise, and everyone fell into the group rather quickly.

And what does the future look like?

I don't really know which I find very exciting. I want to get on set as soon as possible and gain experience. In the future, I would like to pursue the field of interest that fascinates me the most and possibly specialize in it abroad.
