Ásthildur Ómarsdóttir - Acting
Ásthildur will be graduating from Acting with her film "The unseen truth"
The Unseen truth
The film follows a young woman in the prime of her life that wakes up confused in the restraints of society.
What is the first film experience you remember that had an impact on you?
I remember watching a movie where women were on strike and the main character went to jail and refused to eat and was forced to eat and I remember how moving it was.
What fascinates you about filmmaking?
To be able to influence people and send messages into the universe that one would not otherwise be able to do. I also find it fascinating to be around creative people who are working towards a common goal and everyone is doing their part to piece together some masterpiece… or some mess. Both are fun.
Why did you choose Acting?
I've always wanted to act, I enjoy it. But also because I thought to myself before school, in Covid, what I wanted to do during the day. The answer was to sing, dance, meet new people and create. So when I saw what this program was like, I thought it was a simple choice.
Did anything particularly surprise you during your studies?
I was very surprised to hear my teacher say that if we can do something other than acting, we should do it because the business is tough.
And what does the future look like?
I have become a business owner of the production company MÍÓSAK and plan to expand it, create projects for myself and hopefully get to participate in all kinds of projects, but then the goal is to move abroad and study. Learn something new and come back with even more knowledge about something completely different than filmmaking.
