We congratulate the makers of “Let me fall” (Lof mer ad falla), for all the attention the film has received, the story contains an important message that should be heard by all, and has been seen by over 44 thousand people in Iceland since it premiered 5 weeks ago. Among the staff on the film there are quite a few students from The Icelandic Film School and we got to hear from Kristin Lea, who both acted in the film and coached the young actors in it.
Kristin Lea graduated from Acting at The Icelandic Film School and has had plenty on her plate since graduation, was a Casting Director and Acting Coach in “Heartstone”, Casting Director in “Out of thin air” (Netflix and BBC) and is the Acting Coach for “Trapped 2”, and this year also acted in “Stella Blomkvist” and “Viti i Vestmannaeyjum”, all very different roles that Kristin Lea enjoyed creating and interpreting
I decided to learn acting because I have always been acting and making up stories since I remember. The first example I remember, is making a play in the second grade and I directed it as well as acting in the pivotal role of the cat.
At The Film School I discovered that I could get what I wanted from the studies if I applied myself to getting it. I am extremely grateful to the teacher Kari Halldor when he taught at the time. He taught me so much that I use as a base in acting technique. When I am at my best I often think about him. He pushed me over a certain threshold that was a break through for me. Thorsteinn Bachmann also has a great part of what I learnt and have used for instance in coaching acting and when I act myself. It is a privilege to have access to such good teachers.
By some stroke of luck, Anna Hafthors and I were able to convince Baldvin to direct and write our graduation film with us. After that I acted opposite Thorvaldur David in Baldvins film “Vonarstraeti”. And then the ball began to roll.
In “Let me fall” I coached the young leading ladies for a few months as well as playing a fun character that was the sponsor of the older Stella. Baldvin and I have been working together from my graduation until today. He is a magician that is wonderful to work with. All the people that worked on the film were charming and it often gets forgotten that the main characters are behind the scenes. For instance the work around casting, costumes and so on. This is a project I am extremely proud of and am grateful to have been a part of
The best thing I take away from the school is Vigfus Thormar that I met there and today we have two wonderful boys together and are experiencing multiple adventures in the film world together
