From the 4th to the 8th of July 2018 Reykjavik Fringe Festival will be held for the first time. It is a multi-arts festival that will be claiming varied locations in the city for numerous types of art installations. Tjarnarbio, the home of independent acting groups, will be the base of operations for the festival, where all information, tickets for individual shows or festival passes, will be available, as well as hosting some events. Besides that many areas of the city will be utilized, both traditional theater settings and unorthodox ones.
We can expect an international festival where theater, dance, stand up, cabaret, drag, poetry, music, lectures, children’s shows and all kinds of artistic experiences are available. Reykjavik Fringe Festival is a part of a larger network of Nordic artists, under the group name Nordic Fringe Network, that gives Icelandic artists an opportunity to travel abroad to foreign festivals with their art, as well as welcoming art from other countries.
Rvk Fringe is in direct cooperation with some of the biggest fringe art groups in Iceland, among others Improv Ísland, Rauða skáldahúsið and Goldengang Comedy. Improv Ísland will be commencing the festival on Wednesday the 4th of July at Tjarnarbio and Rauda skaldahusid will close the festival with a show in Idno on the 8th of July. Most shows will be held in English to be able to reach as many as possible, and so that the artists will have the opportunity to travel abroad with their shows. On the 1st of July there will be an open evening where all the artist involved will have a chance to meet and from that day forth Tjarnarbio will be the base of operations for Rvk Fringe.
